Abstract : The within-tree distribution of eggs of Sternochetus mangiferae on mangoes cv. Banganpalli was studied in 1983 in Bangalore, India. The maximum average number of eggs per fruit (5.0-10.4) was found in fruits in the lower third of the tree, at heights up to 2 m. Fewer eggs per fruit (1.6-4.5) were laid in the upper third of the tree. Directional aspect did not appear to affect the number of eggs per fruit. On fruit, more eggs were laid in the sinus region than in the area around the pedicle or on other parts of the fruit.
