Proximate composition of certain off-season mango varieties of Tamil Nadu.

Abstract : Data are presented on the chemical composition of the fruits of 14 varieties, which were ripened at room temperature (25 deg C) after harvest in October-January. Crops are normally harvested in May-August. The varieties Alphonso, Kalepad and Mulgoa had high contents of total suluble solids and of total, reducing and non-reducing sugars. Nadam, Kalepad and Vasanjathi had a high ascorbic-acid content.
