Abstract : In both cultivars compared, dry matter was higher in leaves but lower in stems of malformed shoots than in those of normal ones; total carbohydrates, polysaccharides, and reducing and non-reducing sugars in leaves and stems were generally higher, while soluble nitrogen was generally lower in leaves and stems, and protein and total nitrogen were lower in leaves but higher in stems. A higher C/N ratio, especially in leaves, accompanied malformation. P and Ca were higher in leaves but lower in stems, while K and Mg were lower in leaves and stems compared with normal shoots.
