Abstract : Serious die-back symptoms were observed on grafted mango seedlings and on mature trees of the cv. Jacqueline. The causal agent was identified as P. rhodina, the perfect stage of Diplodia theobromae. Nursery control measures included the selection of healthy scions, the sterilization of budding knives, avoidance of excessive humidity and gradual exposure of shaded plants to full sunlight. Orchard control was achieved by spraying with copper oxychloride sulphate (3 lb/100 gal) and painting stems with the same fungicide.
