Abstract : Manzañillo-Nunez originated as a chance seedling in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. Flowering occurs between January and April, with harvest between June and July. Trees show little or no alternate bearing, with yields higher than 300 kg on 8-year-old plants. Fruit appearance and quality are considered excellent. Average fruit weight is 660 g and the seed is 6% of total fruit weight. Externally there is a 75% red blush and the flesh is almost fibreless, bright yellow and juicy, and has a pleasant aroma and flavour (15° Brix). Fruits retain their quality following 16 days of storage at room temperature with minimum damage by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata].
