Studies on the effect of gamma irradiation and maleic hydrazide on the shelflife of mangoes.

Abstract : Hard green fruits of the cv. Samar Bahisht were subjected to ?-irradiation with a 300 Gy dose or they were dipped for 3 minutes in MH at 1000, 1500 or 2000 p.p.m. All fruits, including the untreated controls, were held at 23-30°C for up to 15 days. Data on skin colour, biochemical changes and organoleptic parameters showed that both, irradiation and MH delayed fruit ripening.
