Abstract : Mango seeds exhibit no dormancy. Germination may occur between 5 and 40°C but the optimum temperature is 25-30°. The optimum temperature for seedling growth is 30°. High temperature (40°) quickly becomes lethal. Temperatures below 15° cause chilling injury. The leafy stem grows in a succession of flushes separated by periods of rest. For polyembryonic cultivars the bigger the embryos, the more rapid the germination and the more vigorous the young plants.
