Modified veneer grafting in 'Langra' mango.

Abstract : In the conventional method of veneer grafting the top of the seedling rootstock is removed after the scion has sprouted. In the modified method apical dominance was eliminated immediately after grafting. The scions were grafted on 1-year-old seedlings, at monthly intervals between mid-April and mid-September, by 3 methods: (1) veneer grafting, (2) modified veneer grafting or (3) softwood grafting. The highest success, obtained in mid-June, was 96.6, 100 and 100% in (1), (2) and (3), respectively.
