Abstract : Estimates of tree growth characteristics, including height and crown radius, and potential yields are calculated for a traditional planting system for mangoes consisting of 69 trees/ha planted 12 m apart, and a potential high density planting system which would consist initially of 277 trees/ha planted 6 m apart decreasing to 138 trees/ha after 10 years and 69 trees/ha after 12-14 years. Yield estimates suggest that 10-year-accumulated yields (2- to 12-year-old trees) would be higher (by 290?058 fruits/ha) in the high density planting system than in the traditional planting system but yields thereafter would be similar in both systems. Estimated production costs for both systems are tabulated.
