Effect of leguminous crops on the vigour of the young mango plants.

Abstract : Trials between 1982 and 1984 were carried out with 3-year-old trees of the cv. Sammar Bahisht Chaunsa which were grown on plots with the following treatments: (1) fallow, (2) Cyamopsis tetragonoloba sown in mid-May and incorporated as green manure in mid-July, (3) Trifolium alexandrinum sown on 25 September and incorporated in mid-February and (4) C. tetragonoloba as in (2) followed by T. alexandrinum as in (3). Maximum tree height, crown spread and trunk girth were obtained in (4) and minimum in (1).
