Abstract : Many species of the cecidomyiid Dasineura are known to convert blossoms of many useful plants into organoid galls. The formation of galls by D. amaramanjarae on mango, D. citri on citrus and D. sesami, D. lini and D. papivora is described. The galls formed by the different species of Dasineura are floral bud galls in which the buds rarely show distortion or overgrowth and retain their normal shape, but fail to open. No fruits are set in the bud as the internal organs are damaged.
