Abstract : The effectiveness of DD-136 nematode (Neoaplectana carpocapsae) against larvae of the cerambycid Rhytidodera bowringi was investigated in simulated field conditions in the laboratory in China. Suspensions of 2 ml containing 22?000 nematodes and 1 ml containing 22?500 against late-instar larvae resulted in 80-100% mortality of the larvae in the treated group within 3-43 days, whereas the controls developed normally. In studies on mango, 28 of 35 larvae inoculated with a 2 ml suspension containing 58?800 nematodes died within 32 days, compared with 100% survival in the control group. Although suspension inoculation was effective, it was not considered practical for large-scale control in the field.
