Abstract : Clean cultivation of mango in Tripura, India, in 1984 reduced attack on the fruit by the curculionid Sternochetus gravis [S. frigidus] from 87% (for no treatment) to 68%; stirring the soil under the trees reduced attack to 78%, and handpicking the adults as they ascended the trees was less effective. In combination, the 3 treatments reduced attack to 24%.
