Mites collected on cultivated plants in the State of Tabasco, Mexico and their importance.

Abstract : Observations of the ecological role and economic importance of mites on cultivated plants made during a survey conducted in 1982-83 in the State of Tabasco, Mexico, are presented. The results are given in the form of lists arranged by host-plant and taxonomically by mite species. Among the mites represented are phytophagous, saprophagous and predacious species in the families Phytoseiidae, Cheyletidae, Eriophyidae, Tenuipalpidae, Tetranychidae, Tarsonemidae, Tydeidae and Acaridae. The crops discussed are cocoa, coconuts, mangoes, cassava, maize, sugarcane, rice, pawpaws, banana, Citrus, Bixa orellana, Annona muricata, Cedrela mexicana [C. odorata], Phaseolus vulgaris and moté (Erythrina spp.).
