Abstract : Research conducted by the Institute is summarized under the headings: field crops (fodders and pastures, barley, wheat, triticale, maize, chickpeas, groundnuts, Phaseolus vulgaris, faba beans, lentils, safflower, rape, sunflowers, cotton, lupins, Lathyrus sativus and oats); horticulture (citrus, avocado, loquat, mango, banana, olives, strawberries, pistachios, jojoba, apples, pears, cherries, kiwifruit, hazelnuts, nectarines, raspberries, grapes, artichokes, asparagus, Phaseolus beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Chinese cabbage, lettuce, okra, peas, sweetcorn, tomatoes, water melons, potatoes, carnations); plant protection (entomology, plant pathology, nematology, weed control); soils and water use; animal production (nutrition, management, breeding and reproductive physiology); agricultural economics; and central chemistry laboratory. The section on field crops includes subsections on the improvement of grain cereals and the conservation of plant genetic resources.
