Abstract : There was little or no activity of these enzymes in healthy fruit and increased activity in fruits infected with Rhizoctonia solani and Dothiorella dominicana. Among the pectic enzymes a more active role is envisaged for hydrolases as compared with lyases, endo-enzymes showing more pronounced activity than exo-enzymes in the former. Greater activity of R. solani fruit rot is correlated with more prolific production of these enzymes by the fungus.
