Abstract : B. theobromae caused dieback in young mango seedlings, with blackening and necrosis of the tap-root. On older plants, dieback, twig blight and blackening of the stem were followed by stem canker necrosis and root necrosis. Banana fruits were affected by stalk rot, finger drop and tip rot, the decay spreading uniformly along the fruit. Isolates from both hosts infected and could be reisolated from mango seedlings.
