Genetic resources of tropical and sub-tropical fruits and nuts (excluding Musa).

Abstract : Each of the 31 crops or crop groups, belonging to 22 families, is treated separately: following an introduction, brief information is presented on taxonomy, botany, origin, distribution, ecology, agronomy, diseases, pests, genetics, improvement and germplasm conservation. Data on germplasm collections, giving country, location, and number of accessions of a particular species and of related species, are provided in 27 tables. Data on nutritional composition of tropical fruits and FAO production statistics of major representatives of both crop groups are given in 2 tables. The taxa treated include Anacardium occidentale, Mangifera indica, Pistacia vera, Annona, Durio zibethinus, Ananas comosus, Carica papaya, Diospyros kaki, Garcinia mangostana, Persea americana, Artocarpus, Ficus carica, Psidium guajava, Eugenia, Phoenix dactylifera, Passiflora, Macadamia, Punica granatum, Citrus and Nephelium lappaceum.
