Abstract : Mango trees (cultivars Haden and Singapur) planted in a tropical dry forest region flowered for a third time during 1985. The region was experiencing an unusually dry period (6 weeks without rain in August/September) during the rainy season (April to December). Flowering overlapped with the end of the second fruiting period. The effects of water stress on flower initiation are discussed. Under these conditions, panicle removal is recommended in order to ensure an adequate crop in the following year.
