Abstract : Adult male populations of Dacus dorsalis were monitored in orchards of guava, carambola [Averrhoa carambola], wax apple and mango in southern Taiwan in 1983-84. Density was low in December-March, increased from April onwards and reached a peak in June-September. The numbers of males trapped appeared to be correlated with ripening of the fruits and with temperature. A delay of 2 weeks was observed between peak numbers of males taken and the incidence of fruit injury. It was concluded that the best time for applying control measures was at the time of fruit ripening in May-November.
