Abstract : Field trials were carried out in Gujarat, India, in 1981-83 to determine the effectiveness of carbaryl at 0.1% sprayed against resting adults of Amritodus atkinsoni and Idioscopus clypealis on mango, with the aim of preventing them from migrating to fresh growth. Sprays were applied to the trunks and limbs of mango trees. Populations in both treated and untreated orchards were recorded regularly. Two sprayings were necessary to keep abundance of the pests below the economic threshold, the first in December-January preceding development of the inflorescence, and the second in June-July preceding the development of fresh vegetative growth.
