Abstract : The report constitutes the second update of the study published in 1976. As well as highlighting the latest trends and developments in the major European markets, the 1987 edition aims to help exporters select the most suitable products for export to the most promising markets. The seven markets investigated are: the UK, France, GFR, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Sweden. Austria, Denmark and Norway are also commented on. The overall market position and prospects are reviewed for: asparagus; aubergines; avocados; beans (Phaseolus); capsicum; chillies; courgettes; ginger; grapes (table); limes; rambutans; mangoes; melons; pawpaws; passion fruit; pineapples; okras; strawberries; and apricot; nectarine, peach and plum tree fruits. For each target market country, data are presented regarding: supply and demand for the products; distribution networks; import restrictions; quality control; and profiles of leading importers. The broad coverage of the document should be especially useful to developing countries' exporters handling a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables.
