Abstract : The malformation of inflorescences and the occurrence of Eriophyes mangiferae [Aceria mangiferae] were studied on 5 mango varieties in the field in Egypt in 1981-82. The variety Zebda was the most and Mabrouka the least susceptible to infestation by A. mangiferae. Taimour, Company and Hindi were moderately susceptible. The highest populations of mites occurred during September-February. Zebda was the only variety which did not have malformed inflorescences. The other 4 varieties had the following order of susceptibility: Company > Taimour > Hindi > Mabrouka. There was an obvious relationship between mango malformation and A. mangiferae populations on the Mabrouka, Hindi and Taimour varieties. No such relationship was observed on the other 2 varieties.
