Abstract : Malformation of the inflorescence of mango is caused by a number of factors, including infestation by a mite. In studies in Bihar, India, in 1965-70, the incidence of malformation ranged from 5 to 80%, depending on variety and year. It could be reduced to 3.9-6.5% by 2 sprays of endrin at 0.05% or Kelthane [dicofol] as a preventive measure in the 2nd week of January and as a curative measure in the 3rd week of February, as compared with 40.1% incidence in untreated plots.
