Abstract : The food plants, geographic distribution, biology and control methods of Dacus dorsalis are described. Avocado, mango and guava are the preferred food plants, Citrus and other subtropical fruit also being attacked. The species has not yet been detected in Brazil and the measures being taken to prevent its entry are discussed.
