Abstract : The weed flora in loquat, mango, guava, citrus and ber (Zizyphus mauritiana) orchards and vineyards in Patiala were surveyed fortnightly for 10 years (1972 onwards). A total of 99 species belonging to 76 genera and 28 families of flowering plants were observed. Dominant weeds were Malvastrum coromandelianum, Oxalis corniculata, Tridax procumbens, Euphorbia geniculata and some grasses. Annuals comprised 69% of the flora, the remainder being perennials. Shrubs were poorly represented (14%). Sixty-nine of the weed species found in the orchards are also found on cultivated areas in the Patiala District.
