Abstract : Malformation of mango inflorescence is one of the most important diseases of mango. Its causal organisms has not yet been established and controversy exists among the plant health scientists about its cause. In these studies, efforts have been made to find out the presence of mycoplasma like organisms in the diseased plant tissue and its possible relation with diseased conditions. The staining technique applied in these studies was specific for mycoplasma like organisms in the plant tissue. The fungi and bacteria do not react with this stain. The presence of blue coloured areas in the transverse sections prepared from the diseased tissue clearly indicated the presence of mycoplasma like organisms in the plant tissue. However, such blue coloured areas were not found in the sections prepared from healthy tissue, which confirmed the presence of mycoplasma like organisms in mango malformed tissue.
