Abstract : The seeds are used traditionally for their antispasmodic, antiscorbutic, astringent and anthelmintic properties, and the flowers provide a fumigant against mosquitoes. Newly described constituents are methyl gallate, n-propyl gallate, n-pentyl gallate, n-octyl gallate, 4-phenyl-n-butyl gallate, 6-phenyl-n-hexyl gallate and dihydrogallic acid.
