Abstract : A new pentacyclic triterpenoid, hopane-1?,3?,22-triol, was isolated from the neutral fraction of the n-hexane extract of the stem bark of cv. Neelum. From the acidic fraction of the same extract, 4 new tetracyclic triterpenoids identified as 3?,22(R or S)-dihydroxycycloart-24E-en-26-oic acid, 3?,22(R or S)-dihydroxycycloart-24E-en-26-oic acid, 3?,23(R or S)-dihydroxycycloart-24E-en-26-oic acid and 3?,27-dihydroxycycloart-24E-en-26-oic acid were isolated. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods.
