Abstract : Cultar (paclobutrazol) applied as a collar drench at the rate of 1 g a.i./m canopy diameter induced flowering 3 to 5 months after treatment in easy-to-flower cultivars. This made possible off-season production and substantially increased growers' income. Of the 6 cultivars studied, Khiewsawoey was the least responsive to Cultar but off-season flowering was enhanced by follow-up sprays of KNO3 (which acts as a bud dormancy-breaking agent).
