Abstract : The malformation described is characterized by the transformation of the mango inflorescence into a compact mass of sterile flowers in adult trees, and by the production of thick vegetative shoots at the growing points or in the leaf axils of seedlings. Fusarium moniliforme subglutinans is believed to be the main cause of the disease although a mite (Aceria mangiferae) is also associated with it. A caterpillar (Eupithecia sp.) was also seen to attack the flowers, and many thrips (Frankliniella cubensis) and some nitidulid and cryptophagid beetles were also present.
