Preliminary trial on chemical control of mango hoppers (Amritodus atkinsoni and Idioscopus niveosparsus) in laboratory.

Abstract : The efficacy of 0.1% carbaryl, 0.01% permethrin, 0.03% dimethoate, 0.05% endosulfan and 0.05% phosalone for the control of the cicadellids Amritodus atkinsoni and Idioscopus niveosparsus on mango seedlings was tested in the laboratory. Carbaryl, permethrin and dimethoate controlled both species, carbaryl was the most effective against A. atkinsoni and permethrin against I. niveosparsus. All 5 insecticides were less effective in controlling I. niveosparsus than A. atkinsoni.
