Four years of mango fertilization in soils of the Maracay series.

Abstract : Thirteen-year old mango trees of cvs Kent and Smith were treated annually for 4 seasons with N at 40 or 80 kg/ha, and P2O5 and/or K2O at 30 kg/ha, applied in circular furrows 0.20-0.30 cm deep at a 3 m radius from the trunk and followed by irrigation. Trees receiving N at 80, P2O5 at 30 and K2O at 30 kg/ha yielded some 40% more than unfertilized controls, taking into account the variations due to biennial bearing. Foliar analysis showed a good correlation between the nutrients applied (especially N) and yields. Biennial bearing was accentuated by fertilization.
