Abstract : Differences in the growth and yields of fruit trees of different ages were studied in commercial plantings of guavas, sweet oranges and mangoes. The fruiting index (number of fruits/mē) and yield (number or weight of fruits/plant) were used to establish the production pattern and the most productive period for each species. The choice of cultivar and cultural techniques, including planting density, levels of fertilizer application and pruning, were considered. An economic analysis of the results showed that crops planted at higher densities gave better returns than those grown at lower densities.
