Abstract : In February 1986, for the first time, Beauveria bassiana was found infecting nymphs of Drosicha mangiferae in the field. Dead infected mealybugs were found on mango and on the weed Clerodendron infortunatum in Lucknow, India, and in January-February 1987 the pathogen was found infecting the margarodid in orchards in 5 localities. Laboratory pathogenicity tests are described. In field trials on infested mango panicles, spray application of a suspension having 4.8 × 106 conidia/ml reduced populations of D. mangiferae by 33.3-100% in 10 days.
