Abstract : The efficacy of Dimecron (phosphamidon) 100 EC against insect pests of mango was investigated in Pakistan in 1984-85. Injection of the insecticide at 0.30 ml a.i./cm girth into 6-8-year-old trees 4 times at 15-day intervals resulted in 85.4 and 85.8% mortality of nymphs of the pseudococcid Drosicha stebbingi and mango hoppers (Idioscopus clypealis and Amritodus atkinsoni), resp., 96 h after their release. The residue in mango fruit collected 20 days after the last application was 0.007 p.p.m., which is below the permissible limit of 0.1 p.p.m. and safe for human consumption. It is concluded that the injection method is more effective in older trees where spraying is more difficult.
