Abstract : In a study of Paralatoria blanchardi (Targ.) on date palms in Wadi El-Natroun, Egypt, based on monthly sampling, it was found that this Coccid became most abundant in October, reaching a density of 165/leaflet, at a time when the average temperature ranged between 22.8 and 25.3 deg C and the relative humidity was about 55%. The number of nymphs counted monthly, in relation to the total population, showed that there are two generations a year. In a similar study of Mycetaspis personata (Comst.) on Ficus nitida in Giza Governorate, it was found that populations were highest in September and October and that there are 2-3 generations a year, the first beginning in July, the second in September and the third in March or April. It was inferred, from dissection of females, that the production of eggs was lowest in July and August, being about 19.1 and 18.3/female, respectively, and highest in October, being about 28.1/female.
