Abstract : GA3 at 50-1000 p.p.m., Alar [daminozide] at 500 p.p.m. or Ethrel [ethephon] at 200 p.p.m. was applied in Mar. to 18-year-old trees of cv. S. B. Chausa in orchards at Hisar. The shoots were sampled on numerous dates between 12 June and 15 Nov. Both Alar and Ethrel increased shoot peroxidase and ?-amylase activities thus decreasing the level of inhibitors and releasing more sugars for flower induction. GA3 reduced the activity of both enzymes and consequently inhibited flowering.
