Flowering induction in mango (Mangifera indica L.) with KNO3.

Abstract : In trials over 3 years, 4-, 5.5- and 10-month-old shoots of Haden mango trees sprayed with KNO3 (10-160 g/litre) in Sep., Oct. or Nov. flowered on average 21 days earlier than controls treated with water. The best treatment, KNO3 at 10 g/litre applied to 10-month-old shoots on 19 Nov., induced flowering 7 days after application. KNO3 application had no effect on fruit set or yield.
