Abstract : Peripheral shoots of the cultivar Jhumko Fazli were ringed by removing a 2-cm portion of bark 20-25 cm below the tip. In a second trial, an aqueous solution of a 50 p.p.m. NAA solution was applied to all leaves above the ring. Forty days after treatment various physico-chemical aspects of fruit quality were assessed. Ringing of shoots significantly increased weight, size and specific gravity of fruits. Auxin treatment produced no further improvement. Vitamin C content declined significantly in fruits from ringed shoots not treated with auxin.
