Abstract : Green mature mango fruits (cv. Irwin) were transported in a refrigerated truck (at 12°C) on a car ferry from Kume Island to Tokyo Port. The fruits were transported from Tokyo to Tsukuba University by land. The total journey took 4 days. On arrival the fruits were stored in CA storage (5% O2 and 5% CO2) at 8, 10 or 12°. Fruit quality was retained at all temperatures for one month. No chilling injury was observed, even at the lowest temperature.
