Abstract : In studies in 1983 and 1984, cultivars in 48 orchards were surveyed for flower malformation in relation to cultivar and tree age. Of the 8 cultivars, Bombay Green, Dashehari, Lucknow Safeda and Chausa showed a high percentage of malformed panicles (10.8-24.2%), with Baramasi being the least affected (0.32-1.92%). Young trees (6- to 15-year-old) were more affected than older trees (16- to > 26-year-old). Of 16 cultivars screened for susceptibility to flower malformation, only Bhadauran was not susceptible.
