Abstract : The association between the stratiomyid Ptecticus testaceus and mango fruits attached to the tree is reported, with some observations on the ecology and behaviour of the insect. P. testaceus apparently synchronized its biological cycle to mango fruit set in Costa Rica, and its adults fed on nectar of sunflower inflorescences. More detailed studies to determine the status of this dipteran, and its association with mango fruits, are suggested.
