Abstract : Buzura suppressaria was observed seriously damaging mango trees in orchards in Uttar Pradesh in 1986 and 1988. It was also seen feeding on guava, litchi, plum and aonla [Phyllanthus emblica]. Laboratory trials of fenvalerate, cypermethrin, quinalphos, phenthoate, endosulfan, methyl parathion [parathion-methyl], dichlorvos, monocrotophos, malathion and diazinon against fully-grown caterpillars showed that fenvalerate and cypermethrin (both at 0.005%), quinalphos (at 0.03 or 0.025%) and phenthoate at 0.05% provided effective control.
