Abstract : Ethanol extracts of Bougainvillea spectabilis, Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium [Tanacetum cinerariifolium], Cymbopogon citratus, Lantana camara, Ocimum sanctum, Prosopis juliflora, Ricinus communis, Tagetes patula, garlic, mango, passionfruit, avocado and guava were 60-100% effective as botanical insecticides against Myzus persicae in the laboratory, but only extracts of T. cinerariifolium and avocado were effective (100 and 74.8%, resp.) against Plutella xylostella. With the exception of pyrethrum flowers, cold water extracts were ineffective against both insects.
