Abstract : Studies of mango in Guam showed that >50% of the foliage was being consumed by larvae of the noctuid Penicillaria jocosatrix and that further damage was being caused by a cecidomyiid, now determined as an as yet undescribed species of Procontarinia. Notes are provided on their biology and injuriousness. Four parasitoids were imported and released as biological control agents against the noctuid, and 2 larval parasitoids became established in 1986 and have afforded substantial control, increasing fruit yields in 1988 20-fold as compared with 1986.
