Abstract : A species of Psoraleococcus near to P. multipori is reported damaging mango in India for the first time; it was found on Viper I. (Andaman and Nicobar Is. ) causing severe infestation during an intensive survey for insect pests of fruit crops in April 1988. The scales infested branches 2-4.5 cm in diameter, discontinuously, and remained in a thin black hollow encrustation made by ants, which remained near them constantly and thus shielded them from natural enemies.
