Abstract : Research carried out on grapes (breeding, selection for salinity tolerance, nutrition and wine quality, cultural methods, disease control, genetic transformation, DNA fingerprinting, and resistance to powdery mildew [Uncinula necator]), citrus (breeding and selection, albedo breakdown in oranges, lime tolerance in rootstocks, pollinators and fruit quality), temperate crops (including pistachios, melons, quandongs (Santalum acuminatum) and native ornamentals), tropical and subtropical crops (mangoes, cashews, macadamia, lychees, coffee, pineapples, mangosteens and avocados), and postharvest horticulture (genetic regulation of fruit softening, controlled atmospheres for storage and transport, evaluation of fruits and vegetables, humidity control, heat treatment of fruits and postharvest biology of tropical crops) is described.
