Abstract : In a survey of 12 mango orchards in West Bengal, soil samples were taken in Jan., and leaf samples (from non-fruiting terminal shoots) in Jan., July and Sep. in 1978 and 1979, from selected high and low yielding trees of cultivars Fazli, Himsagar, Langra, Gopalbhog (Bombai) and Aswina. Although there were wide variations, positive correlations were observed between yield, and leaf and soil N and P. Leaf N levels were generally low and many were in the deficient (1% N) and severely deficient (0.68% N) regions. Leaf P levels were also slightly low. Leaf N, P and K levels decreased from Jan. to Sep.
