Abstract : Eight scion cultivars (Dudhpedha, Rajapuri, Dashehari, Langra, Pairy, Totapari, Jahangir and Musharad) were stone (epicotyl)-grafted onto 10-day-old seedlings of a local cultivar in the first week of Aug. 1982. Graft take ranged from 56% (Langra) to 93% (Totapari), but the survival rate of sprouted grafts after 180 days was only 14% (Dashehari) to 50% (Musharad). Of 2 cultivars stone-grafted between July and Sep. 1983, Langra had a higher graft take (80-100%) than Pairy (70-80%). Mortality was measured at 60-day intervals and ranged from 25-84% after 180 days. The mortality rate was highest within the first 60 days and is thought to be due to periods of inadequate humidity.
